Official Airport and Welcome Services

The official airport, located a 10 km from the venue, is Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport, where the LOC will provide adequate welcome services.

Upon arrival, please report to the welcome desk located situated in the airport or contact the LOC transportation department +40 0761 327 181.

The transfer time from the airport to the official hotels is approximately 30 minutes.

Arrival By Road

Teams arriving by road are kindly asked to go directly to the Testing Centre at Cluj Arena, to first go through the on-site testing procedure. For those teams arriving by road information about approximate arriving time to be added to the Final Entries.

Entry Visas

The following countries require visas to enter Romania:

  • Turkey
  • Belarus

Visas should be obtained before leaving your country, from Romanian Embassy or Consulate well in advance to ensure all the procedures in due time.

Participants who require a visa should contact the LOC as soon as possible to obtain a special invitation letter and visa application information. Please contact: Monia Bandea (competition@cluj2021.ro)

The following information shall be included in the request:

  • Full name (first name and family name as shown in passport)
  • Gender
  • Date of Birth
  • Passport Number and Passport expiry date
  • Function in the team (athlete or official)

The invitation will be sent to you as soon as possible.

Citizens of the European Union or from the European Economic Area (EEA) can enter Romania at any border checkpoint where they submit must a valid identity document – passport or another identity document acknowledged by the Romanian State.

EU/EEA citizens may enter and stay in the territory of Romania in keeping with the right of free movement and residence granted under the Romanian legislation, according to European provisions. For a stay in Romania longer than 90 days, a registration certificate has to be obtained from the Romanian Immigration Office.

Citizens of other states (states not in the EU/EEA) need an entry visa.

Insurance

According to the European Athletics Competition Regulations, the participating Member Federations are responsible for taking out their own insurance to cover the risk of illness or injury of any member of their team when travelling to and from the European Athletics event and during the event itself. Please take the necessary steps to fulfil these requirements well in advance.

Local Transportation

Transportation between the team hotels and the various venues will be guaranteed by the LOC shuttle service.

To the warm-up & training & competition venue

A shuttle service – connecting the team hotels, the warm-up & training area and the competition venue – will be operational from Thursday, 17 June 2021 and will work accordingly to the below schedule.

From warm-up & training venue to competition venue

The transfer between the warm-up & training and the competition venue will be provided according to the below schedule:

In addition to the above, athletes proceeding to the call room will be offered a dedicated shuttle service from the warm-up & training venue. Detailed timetable of this special service will be displayed at the the warm-up & training venue.

A detailed specific timetable will be posted on the notice boards at the Information desk in each Team Hotel, the TIC and the Sub-TIC.

Transportation of Equipment

Each team is responsible for organising the transport of its poles until its arrival in Cluj-Napoca. Upon arrival at official airport, the pick-up of the poles will be arranged by the LOC who will transfer them to the competition venue, where they will be at the athlete’s disposal. All poles or bag of poles shall bear the identification of the athlete (name, country, event, number of poles per bag).

Teams having difficulties to deliver the poles to Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport shall contact the LOC (Vlad Slusarciuc; vlad.slusarciuc@fra.ro; +40 743 635 061) at the soonest possible to arrange special pick-up from Bucharest Airport. Please note that participating teams will remain in charge of such additional service.

After the event, the poles will be kept at the competition venue and transported to the official airport according to the departure details declared by the teams.

Departure

A shuttle service will also be in place for team departures. The frequency of this service will be based on the departure schedule, which will be posted at the Information Desk of each team hotel at least 24 hours before departure.

Teams will be asked to provide full travel details together with the final entries. Team leader will have to confirm departure details during the accreditation process. Any changes to the provided details shall be communicated to the LOC (Information Desk at the team hotel), at least 48 hours before departure.
