Accreditation

Photographers can collect their accreditation pass at the Media Accreditation Centre, located near the Ataköy Arena.

Please see the “Media Logistics/Accreditation” section of this Guide for the Media Accreditation Centre opening times.

Accreditations are not transferable and must be worn at all times.

Bags and unattended baggage

Photographers are kindly requested not to take up valuable space in photo positions at the Arena with large bags and wheeled cases. There are lockers for you to use in the Photo Work Area. Note that items left unattended are liable to be removed by security.

Briefing

Time: Thursday 2 March at 16:00

Location: Media Centre in Sinan Erdem Arena.

All accredited photographers must attend the Photo Briefing. Guidelines and important details for working at the event will be explained. You will have the opportunity to ask questions directly to the Photo Manager and the Photo Team.

Distribution of photo bibs will take place at this time. Please note that you will only be able to collect your bib if you have signed the “photographer’s undertaking” and have uploaded it in the Event Management System.

Camera loan and repair service

Nikon will have a service room in Ataköy Arena close to the Photographers’ Work Area providing free camera repair and loan services.

Dress code

Photographers and technicians working around the field of play are often in the view of spectators and broadcast cameras and therefore must maintain a respectable and neutral standard of appearance.

In addition, photographers should not display overtly conspicuous branding or any political slogans or messages on clothing or equipment.

Flashguns / strobes

The use of flashguns and strobes is strictly prohibited during any competition session.

Internet access

Wired and wireless internet is available in the Photo Work Area and in key photo positions.

Lockers

Lockers for photographers are available in the Photo Work Area on a first-come, first-served basis. You will be requested to pay a €10,00 deposit that will be given back to you upon return of the key.

Lost or stolen items

Please note that Istanbul 2023 is not liable for lost or stolen items and equipment. Lockers are available for you to store your equipment but you do so at your own risk.

Medal ceremonies

Medal ceremonies will take place in Ataköy Arena.

The medal ceremonies schedule is available under the “Appendices” section of this Guide.

Mixed zone

Photographers are not allowed to access the mixed zone.

Opening ceremony

The Opening Ceremony will take place on Thursday 2 March at 18:30 in Ataköy Arena.

Opening press conference

The Opening Press Conference will be held on Thursday 2 March at 14:00 in Ataköy Arena (Infield).

Photographers and press representatives are welcome to attend. Media shuttles will be available from the official media hotel to Ataköy Arena.

Parking

Limited parking is available for media at Ataköy Arena. We strongly recommend you to use the media shuttle buses between Ataköy Arena and the official media hotel.

Photo bibs

Photographers will be able to collect their photo bibs at the Photo Briefing (see above “Briefing” for more details on the Photo Briefing).

The bib allows access to photo positions and must be worn at all times, together with the accreditation, when working in Ataköy Arena. Bibs are uniquely numbered and are not transferable.

Outfield photographers will be issued with an orange bib. Infield photographers will be issued with a blue bib.

Lost and stolen bibs must be reported to the Photo Team as soon as possible.

Photo positions

Photo positions have been reserved in key locations in Ataköy Arena, including head-on to the oval finish line and 60m finish line, in pre-identified seats around the seating bowl and for medal ceremonies.

Temporary access to the infield is limited and must be requested in advance. More details will be provided during the Photo Briefing.

Internet connectivity and power will be available in key photo positions.

Photographers work area

A dedicated Photo Work Area is available behind the Press Tribunes on Level 3 of Ataköy Arena.

The Photo Work Area offers the following services:

• Help desk

• Power, wired and wireless internet connectivity

• TV screens showing in-venue feed

• Pigeon holes with printed competition schedule and start lists

• Photo lockers, available on a first-come first-served basis

Please note that, with the exception of the international news agencies, it is not possible to reserve a seat in the Photo Work Area. Any stickers and signs will be removed overnight by the Photo Team.

Power

Standard main power in Turkey is supplied at 230 volts AC @ 50 Hertz. To connect to the main power supply, you need a two-pin plug.

Remote cameras

The use of remote cameras is permitted in pre-agreed locations. Installation is subject to the prior approval by the Photo Manager and should be done under his guidance.

All requests for infield remotes must be submitted to the Photo Manager on the day before they intend to be used and their set-up must take place no later than one hour prior to the start of the relevant competition session. No plates will be available, therefore you will be required to bring your own.

Spectator seats

Photographers may work from empty spectator seats at Ataköy Arena, provided that they are not located in areas reserved to other client groups such as VIP guests or Teams. As soon as the ticket holder arrives, photographers must vacate the seat.

Tools of the trade

Specific items have been classified as ‘tools of the trade’ for accredited photographers and technicians and may be brought into the venue. To do so, you must enter through the marked media entrance and declare the items to security.

Items include, but are not limited to:

• Rechargeable and non-rechargeable batteries;

• Photographic ‘grips’ for remote camera installations;

• Robotic camera head and mounting accessories;

• Radio control camera triggers (Pocket Wizard);

• Leatherman and other multi-tools;

• Cables, connectors, cable spools, network testers, network termination equipment, power blocks, wire cutters, wire strippers, pliers, crimp tools.

Tripods

Tripods are not permitted inside Ataköy Arena, however monopods are allowed.
