Visa

Citizens of the following countries require a visa to enter Poland:

  • Armenia
  • Azerbaijan
  • Belarus
  • Kosovo
  • Turkey

Holders of a valid Schengen visa can enter Poland freely and no additional visa is required.

Citizens of the following countries can enter Poland without a visa only if they possess a biometric passport:

  • Albania
  • Bosnia and Herzegovina
  • North Macedonia
  • Montenegro
  • Moldova
  • Serbia (except the holders of Serbian passports issued by Koordinacionauprava)
  • Ukraine

You can apply for your visa at a Polish Embassy of Consulate. Please ensure you do so in due time and prior to leaving your country.

Participants who require a visa should contact the LOC as soon as possible in order to obtain a special invitation letter and the visa application information. Please contact:

Travel to/from Torun

Arrival in Torun

Arrival by Plane

There are two official airports: Bydgoszcz International Airport (located 50km from Torun) and Warsaw International Airport (located 220km from Torun). The LOC will provide welcome services in both airports.

Transfers from any of the official airports to Arena Torun are available for all accredited media. In order to be able to use this service, please ensure you enter your travel details in the Event Management System at least 48 hours prior to your departure to Torun.

The transfer time from the official airports to the Arena is approximately:

1h from Bydgoszcz Airport

3h from Warsaw Airport

Once you arrive in Arena Torun you will be directed to the Main Testing Centre to take your Covid test. Once you receive your negative result, you will be able to collect your accreditation and will afterwards be taken to the official media hotel where you have your reservation.

All official media hotels are conveniently located in proximity of Torun city centre. To check the exact location of the official hotels, please see the “Logistics/Accommodation” section of this Guide.

Arrival by Train
There will be no Welcome Desk at the main railway station in Torun. Media representatives arriving by train will be met by LOC representatives according to the arrival times provided in the Event Management System. They will then be taken to the Main Testing Centre at Arena Torun to proceed with the second stage of the medical clearance protocol (see “Appendices”). Only after receiving a negative test result, will they be able to collect their accreditation and check-in in the official media hotels.

Arrival by Road
Media representatives arriving by road are kindly asked to go to the Main Testing Centre at Arena Torun to proceed with the second stage of the medical clearance protocol (see “Appendices”). Only after receiving a negative test result, will they be able to collect their accreditation and check-in in the official media hotels.

Departure from Torun

Return transfers from the official media hotels to the airports will be provided according to your departure details. The timetable for this service will be available at each hotel Information Desk and at the Media Centre Welcome Desk at least 48h before the departure date.

You can update your departure details at any time, either directly in the Event Management System or at the Media Accreditation Centre (see “Logistics/Accreditation” for operations hours of MAC).

Host City

Toruń is a historical city on the Vistula River in north-central Poland and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is one of the oldest cities in Poland, with the first settlement dated back to the 8th century. It was founded in 1233 by the Teutonic Knights. Over centuries, it was the home for people of diverse backgrounds and religions. Currently, the city is inhabited by 203.000 people and seats the regional government of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. It is also one of the most important centres of culture, science, research and economy in Poland, with several universities, just to mention the oldest and largest in the northern part of the country Nicolaus Copernicus University.

Toruń is a host city of numerous national and international sport events. Next to the motorcycle speedway stadium, MotoArena Toruń, Sports Hall Arena Toruń is proudly organising many important events. It is where the Copernicus Cup, World Athletics Indoor Tour Meeting, takes place every year and where we are happy to host the most important event in Toruń so far, the European Athletics Indoor Championships 2021.
