Getting to the stadium

Dedicated transportation is organised between the Media Hotel and the stadium. The transportation schedule will be made available at the media hotel and the Media Centre at the stadium.

Bergen has an efficient public transport network, including Bybanen, the light rail system, which connects key locations throughout the city. This provides convenient travel between the official hotel, the competition venue, and other key areas in Bergen.

Media Centre

The Media Centre is located near the finish line, with a direct path to the mixed zone for easy access to athlete interviews and post-event coverage. There are approximately 60 workplaces, all of which are equipped with power sockets and internet connection (LAN available to photographers only). A TV screen with a live signal and a CIS monitor are also available in this working space. Workplaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Printed start lists will be available from the Media Info Desk upon request only. Additional relevant information, such as news, biographies and results, can be found on the European Athletics website. Relevant QR codes will be displayed on the info board in the Media Centre.

Paper reduction is an effective and sustainable use of resources and is one of the priorities set by the LOC to help reduce the environmental impact of the championships.

The Media Info Desk will be managed by LOC staff and volunteers who will be happy to help with any questions or concerns.

A selection of refreshments will be available throughout the day, including water, coffee and tea.

Media Tribune

The Media Tribune is located in a prime position within the main stand at Fana Stadion, offering an excellent view of the finish line, and it accommodates approximately 60 working spaces, all of which are equipped with power sockets and internet connection (Wi-Fi).

CIS monitors will be replaced by WebCIS access in the Media Tribune, a short walk to the Media Centre. From here, accredited media can also access the Mixed Zone by exiting the Media Centre and walking up the stairs.

Mixed Zone

The Mixed Zone is located a few meters from the Media Centre near the finish line, and it will accommodate:

  • Rights-Holders
  • Written Press / Digital Press
  • Non-rights Holders

All athletes will leave the infield through the Mixed Zone, which is the only place where athletes can be interviewed after their competition. The Mixed Zone is intended for brief commentaries only.

The LOC flash quotes team, as well as the European Athletics Virtual Mixed Zone (VMZ), will also operate in this working area.

Any special arrangements, such as longer personal interviews, should be made via the respective head of media or another contact person. Contact the information desk in the Media Centre for these requests.

Team Press Liaisons working area

Team Press Liaisons will have access to the Media Tribune and the Media Centre. TPLs can also work in the Mixed Zone. Dedicated working areas will be available and are to be shared by TPL on-site in the Media Centre.

Photographers

All accredited photographers must attend the Photographers’ briefing on Wednesday, 16th of July at 16:00; this briefing will take place in the Media Press Centre located at Fana Stadion. Attendance at the Photographers’ Briefing is mandatory; photo distribution and flow around the competition venue will be explained.

There is a limited number of infield photographers’ positions – a maximum of 12 at a time, including those who will be on rotation. Infield Photographers are selected by the European Athletics Communications Manager and/or LOC Media Officer.

Outfield photographers will have access and are allowed to circulate the infield behind the fence/advertising boards, along the back straight, from the head-on position to the tip of the final bend, as long as they do not obstruct the sight of spectators, and/or officials. The outside of the final straight from the tip of the final bend to the head-on position is a no-go zone.

For medal ceremonies taking place during competition events (see timetable), outfield photographers wishing to cover medal ceremonies should be at the photo position meeting point for the medal ceremonies at least five minutes before the ceremony starts; either the Photo Chief or a member of the Photo team will escort a selected number of outfield photographers (maximum limit – 6) to the dedicated photo position to shoot the medal ceremonies. All medal ceremonies will take place at the stadium.

Photo positions

There will be various dedicated photo positions during the European Athletics U23 Championships in Bergen. Information about photo positions, including no-go zones and crossing points, will be shared during the photographers’ briefing(s).

Photo Bibs

Photo bibs will be distributed during the photographers’ briefing, and a deposit of 50 EUR will be requested. Bibs must be worn at all times, together with the accreditation card. Bibs can be kept for the entire duration of the championships and returned at the end.

Storage space for photographers

A limited number of lockers will be available in the Media Centre, and a deposit of 50 EUR will be requested. Locker keys can be kept for the entire duration of the championships and returned at the end. Lockers are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Press Conference

The official Press Conferences will be held at the European Athletics Club in Gneist Arena on Wednesday, 16 July at 13:30, and dedicated transportation will be provided to/from the Press Conference to accredited media accommodated at the official hotel.

Parking

There is no available parking for the media close to Fana Stadion. We strongly recommend using the media shuttle or public transport when arriving at Fana Stadion.
