Getting to the stadium

As the competition venue is a 10 minute walk from the official hotel, no dedicated transport will be organised between Hotel Dixon and the competition venue. 

Accredited media will be able to use their accreditation card to use public transport in Banská Bystrica free of charge

Media Centre

The Media Centre is located in the main building at the competition venue (Sector A – 3rd floor) and directly next to the Mixed Zone, outside the field by the finish line.

There are 30 working places, all of which are equipped with power sockets and internet connection (LAN and Wi-Fi). TV screen with live signal and CIS monitors are also available in this working space. Workplaces are available on a first-come basis.

Printed start lists will be available from the Media Info Desk upon request only. Additional relevant information such as: news, biographies, results, etc. can be found on the European Athletics website. Paper reduction is an effective and sustainable use of resources is one of the priorities set by the LOC to help reducing the environmental impact of the championships.

The Media Info Desk will be managed by LOC staff and volunteers who will be happy to help with any questions or concerns.

A selection of refreshments will be available throughout the day, including tea, coffee, water, and sweets).

Media Tribune

The Media Tribune is located in overlooking the finish line (Sector A1 – Upper rows) and it accommodates 30 working spaces, all of which are equipped with power sockets and internet connection (LAN and Wi-Fi). The Media Tribune is very close to the Media Centre and has direct access to the Mixed Zone.

Mixed Zone

The Mixed Zone is located next to the Media Centre in close proximity of the finish line, and it is divided into the following sections:

  • Rights-Holders
  • Radio
  • Written Press / Digital Press
  • Non-rights Holders 

All athletes will leave the stadium through the Mixed Zone, which is the only place where athletes can be interviewed after their competition. The Mixed Zone is intended for brief commentaries only.

The LOC flash quotes team as well as European Athletics Remote Mixed Zone will also operate in this working area.

Any special arrangements, such as longer personal interviews, should be done via the respective head of media or another contact person. Please contact the Media Information desk in the Media Centre for these requests.

Photographers

All accredited photographers must attend the Photographers’ briefing on Thursday, 18 July at 08:00 in the Media Centre at the SNP Dukla Stadium. Attendance to the Photographers’ Briefing is mandatory; photo distribution and circulation/flow around the competition venue will be explained.

There is a limited number of infield photographers’ positions – a total of 12 – 14. Infield Photographers are selected by the European Athletics Communications Manager and/or LOC Media Officer.

Outfield photographers will have access and are allowed to circulate around the infield behind the advertising boards, along the back straight, from the head-on position to the tip of the final bend as long as they do not obstruct the sight of spectators, and/or officials. The outside of the final straight from the tip of the final bend to the head-on position is a no go-zone.

For medal ceremonies taking place during competition events (see timetable), outfield photographers wishing to cover medal ceremonies should be at the photo position meeting point for the medal ceremonies at least five minutes before the ceremony starts; either the Photo Chief or a member of the Photo team will escort a selected number of outfield photographers (maximum limit – 6) to the dedicated photo position to shoot the medal ceremonies. All medal ceremonies will take place at the stadium.

Photo positions

There will be various dedicated photo positions during the European Athletics U18 Championships in Banská Bystrica. Information about photo positions, including No-go Zone and crossing points with be shared during the photographers’ briefing.

Photo Bibs

Photo bibs will be distributed during the photographers’ briefing and a deposit of 20 EUR will be requested. Bibs are to be worn at all times together with the accreditation card. Bibs can be kept for the entire duration of the championships and returned at the end.

Storage space for photographers

A limited number of lockers will be available in the Media Centre. A deposit of 20 EUR will be requested. Locker keys can be kept for the entire duration of the championships and returned at the end.

Team Press Liaisons working area

Team Press Liaisons will have access to the Media Tribune and to the Media Centre.

Press Conference

The official Press Conference will be held at the Hotel Dixon on Wednesday, 17 July at 12:00.

Additional Programme

The Opening Ceremony will take place on Thursday, 18 July 2024 at 14:50.

No team members will be involved in the ceremony.
